The bark of an old locust tree, when wet, changes its color and becomes a wonderful kind of green, a green that is unlike any commercial color, from tube , bottle or jar!. I wanted to remember a locust tree, which for nearly twenty years had been visible from my studio window. Sometimes it was grey, sometimes brown, sometimes, it was rugged and full of textural elements, but, in the rain, it was always a visually gorgeous delight. This paper batik is simply about the beautiful color of the old tree; I have set it apart in a rectangle of space to make its' colorful character even more important!
